The scream brought her back to her senses, it was farther away this time. Concern started to overrun her mind, unknowingly she said her companion's name out loud, hoping he was near by. In the back of her mind she was convinced that someone had saw him, not just once but twice. Thoughts tormented her thinking of all the terrible things people could and would do to the fragile insect.
Looking briefly back at the stranger frantically she tried to cover up her fear with irritation "Never-mind then, m-merci monsieur" she finally replied with a frown and a bow.
Turning on her heel she ran through the streets despite her annoying little boots. While running down the street she came into contact with a misplaced stone in the street cause her ankle to turn in a odd manner. She let out a yelp at the unexpected twist but bite down her lip and tried to get back up with the support of her old umbrella.
"Merde, I guess being a doctor and a health freak doesn't stop things like this from happening..." she grumbled unimpressed at the irony.
Glancing back she saw that the figure was still there. Not wanting to appear weak in any manner she tried to hobble her way down the street as swiftly as she could biting back at the pain.

She screamed, loudly.
The fly had suddenly reached out and grabbed her, bringing her small body up to his in what was surely to be a death grip. She tried to wiggle free from him in a panic.
It was going to eat her and nobody would know about it.
"LetmegoletmegoletmeGO!" She yelped, but the bug kept clinging to her. After a few minutes she gave up and held back a few whimpers of terror. Just cool it, Bethy... she thought, He's already proven he's not going to eat you... and he's smart... Her brain made a connection at that point. Smart... wears clothes like a human... grabbing people and holding them... Oh my god he was HUGGING her She didn't know wether to smile and hug back at the creature's open yet unexpected affections, or cringe at the fact that she was being hugged by an oversized fly. She kind of went in the middle, and shakingly reached around and patted him on the back. Not all of it was all that fuzzy, and her hand met the tough exoskeleton that could be called his skin at this size. "Yes, yes, very nice... now please." She managed to push away from his mass. "Don't do that, you scared me!" She crossed her arms in a huff, embarrassed that she had mistaken kindness for carnivorous behavior.
Well... What now? She stood there looking at him for a moment. He was clearly harmless, but he was large and intimidating. She already knew about the "Jack the Ripper" case that had gone on a few years ago, tracing the disappearances of young women to a "monster" of some sorts. This poor thing could easily be mistaken for a devil with those two large tufts of hair on his head! "Alrighty... I just know I'm going to regret this..." She pulled one of his lower hands and sat him down on the small couch. "It seems you're rather... lost, uhh, sir I think... So..." Her face flushed, this was just embarrassing! "I-I guess you'll be staying here until I can figure out how to sort things out." WHEW. There. Okay, an offer to stay on the couch for a little while. No big deal... She just had to figure out where he could stay stay, and then she'd send the stranger on his merry way to someplace where he wouldn't scare anybody. Yeah, perfect plan!

He froze when she screamed, unsure what to do he merely stood there. Watching her push herself away from his body, he lowered his head when she scolded at him.
"Don't do that, you scared me!"
He chirped at her in response, not sure what she meant with ‘that’ so instead he just kept standing where he stood, watching her watch him.
He tilted his head as she began to speak at him and grabbed one of his secondary hands, he curled his fingers around her, and much like a child would grip his mother’s hands.
A new friend was to be treasured. She was a new friend or he liked to have a new friend. His previous one had passed away a week or so after they had met from illness. He put the thought out of mind, not wanting to think about it for the moment.
He let her guide him to a little couch and sat him down, like an obedient child, he let her push his larger then her frame on to the furniture.
"Alrighty... I just know I'm going to regret this..."
She paused and he stared at her waiting for her to continue.
"It seems you're rather... lost, uhh, sir, I think...So..."I-I guess you'll be staying here until I can figure out how to sort things out."
Grinning at her, he purred loudly as he pulled her to him again for a hug forgetting she did not like it.
“Krii-ki-kii-chiii!”

He couldn't help but release a cruel chuckle when she fell, and right into a puddle no less, quickly biting his lip when she snapped her head around to glare. She had fire in her eyes, sparking when they fell upon his crooked (but fading) smile.
He knew that look and he knew it well. He had received it many times before from his mother once upon a time. That was the look of a woman who was not to be trifled with, a silent command to button his trap or else face a very, very... Vandall shook his head.
His expression flattened - just in case she could see him through all the shadows - it straightening the longer she glowered.
She eventually huffed, muttering some babble about being a doctor.
Wait.... A DOCTOR?
The humor instantly drained from him. She was a doctor? This whip of a twit was a DOCTOR? Impossible!
His intent stare could have burned holes into her, the questions churning madly inside his mind. What kind of doctor, he wondered (if she really was one)? A surgeon? A geneticist? Something - anything - could be useful. If only he knew for sure.
A bubble of urgency soon possessed the giant, gawking insect, as did the need to find out every detail he could regarding her profession. Anything would be better than nothing. And who knows, perhaps she could save him a confrontation with the professor.
If only he knew for sure... and make her understand...
Just as he found his voice, the woman had already hobbled around the corner, disappearing from sight.Panic quickly seized him, Vandall squeaking, "No-" before racing after the young lady as if the devil himself nipped at his heels. "Mademoiselle! Wait. WAIT!"

Coming to a confused stop she peeked over her shoulder to see the figure running towards her frantically. The sight was odd seeing at how he showed no interest in answering or paying any attention to her. Curiously she stared not sure what to make of him, he seemed a little too silly in the way he ran to be taken seriously as a insane lunatic like Jack the Ripper.
Thinking back to her friend she realized she didn't have time to talk to the stranger and imaginary taunts seemed to pop in her mind encouraging her to ignore him.
'He probably only wants to make fun of my injury, the nerve.'
Suddenly seething with a more infuriated irritation than before she attempted to hobble off leaving the fast approaching figure behind.
"If you can't help me then just leave me be! I don't have time to deal with the likes of people like you!" She yelled back at him with a cold glare.

She squeaked when he latched to her again, but she was a little more... prepared. She laughed a little in what she wasn't quite sure was annoyance or nervousness, and pushed away for a moment. She ran her fingers through her short hair and tried to take a hold of what was going on.
A giant fly had gotten into her apartment, and now she had offered to let it (him, she corrected herself) stay with her for a while. She chuckled a little in dry humor. "Man, I'm sort of glad this is France and not America. Dad would've gotten the rifle..." She shook the gruesome image from her head. This was her friend, not a wild animal. She put on a smile and sat him back down on the couch. "Stay here, I'll be right back." She dropped out to the small kitchen room, it wasn't REALLY a separate room, but the half-wall and small archway basically made it so. She looked around. What did flies eat? Would he even be hungry? Oh! Right! Sugar! Okay... straight out sugar would be unhealthy... Alright... She picked up a thing of grapes. "Perfect!" She eyed a small notebook and pencil for a moment, wondering if he could write at all. "Well, better find out now..." She picked up those as well and walked back to him, sitting herself down next to the stranger. She set the grapes and notebook in his lap, placing the pencil in one of his hands. "Got a name, big guy?"

The mentioning of weapons caused the fruit fly to make a low buzzing nose from the back of his throat, similair to a dog’s whining, but the girl had left before the noise escaped him.
Distracting himself from the darker thoughts his mind was going to, he let his hands roam over the couch, loosing himself in the enjoyment of touching the fabric covering the furniture, enjoying the textures when moving with and against the fabric.
When she returned and sat down next to him, he let out a startled chirp. He had not noticed her return at all and by his luck, she did not seem to have seen his little moment.
However, that train of thought was easily derailed when the human girl placed some objects on to his hands and on his lap.
Ignoring her question of his name for a moment, Ephraim made a very human ‘oooh’ - like sound as he eyed the grapes hungrily, he promptly snatched the grapes of his lap and proceeded to pop them one by one in to his mouth with rapid speed.
He loved grapes, well he loved every fruit but he had a fondness for grapes the most. Stopping mid chew he realised he had forgotten what little manners his previous friend had tried to teach him, turning to the girl besides him, he offered her some grapes with a sheepish expression on his face.
It was also that moment he recalled her request for his name, peering at the other objects she had given him, he was delighted to find some paper and a pen.
Chittering at her in his language, he gripped the pencil in his hands and played with it for a moment before snatching a sheet of paper.
Unsteadily he slowly wrote down his name.
E p h r ai m
Nodding at himself in pride he presented her the paper, with a smile.

Vandall came to a skidding halt, catching up to her in no time and paying a hellish price for it. He clutched a hand to his heaving chest, feeling his lungs burn from lack of air. His entire upper body bowled over, screaming from the exertion. Christ, he was out of shape and it showed.
The woman didn't seem to care for his discomfort, actually flashing her own sadistic smile to see she wasn't the only one to suffer for the night. He pulled back his lips in a snarl, wanting so badly to give her a good tongue lashing, but each attempt to speak only sent him gasping harder. 'Note to self: exercisemore, brood less.'
The woman sniffed haughtily, losing interest in his pain and returning her focus on the sleepy neighborhood. Her eyes swiveled all around, anxiously searching for this "friend" she kept going on about. Vandall pondered on the importance of this for a fleeting moment, quickly dismissing it while taking in one last deep breath; straightening to his full height in hopes to redirect her attention.
She kept walking.
"Madame?"
Nothing.
"Madame?!"
Still nothing.
Finally losing his patience -and growing irate at being ignored- he lurched forward, snagging her elbow in an iron grip. She was immediately pulled backwards, gasping from the pain and shock.
She spun her face around, mouth ready to scream profanities at his audacity.... only to choke at finally receiving a good, long look at his face.
Vandall's eyes glowed a deep violet against her stricken face, narrowing into her large, frightened eyes. "I have a proposition for you."

The sight that she saw was completely unexpected. The creature had a demonic look to him with what appeared to be horns and a very oddly figured face. The sight of it made her gape at him unable to make any sort of audible sound. Trying to focus her attention on any part of him that seemed human she glanced at his illuminating eyes seeing they held a hint of humanity, or rather desperation in them.
Still the hard grip on her arm made her believe otherwise. Mag desperately wanted to pull her arm away from the creature's grip unsure what he was going to do.
After a couple seconds of utter silence passed she noticed the grip was weakening. About to rip her arm away she finally noticed his discomposed appearance, seeing that he was huffing and puffing like a steady train. He was tired just from running a couple meters.
The fear that held in her heart immediately started to fade away with a comical thought seeing that the monster clearly was overweight or out of shape just like the case that she originally was supposed to see this very night. While her appearance didn't show it she was clearly laughing on the inside at the silly thing.
'Still, I am rather curious at why he's like this, I wonder if he's like Bedoier, clearly more uglier and intimidating than a harmless butterfly though..'
The worried state came back at the thought of the little insect. Finally composing herself to reply she just asked with simple urgency "What sort of proposition? As you can clearly tell I'm busy with something..."

She smiled a little as he started chowing down on the grapes. Then he did the unexpected, he stopped and gave her a sheepish smile, holding out a grape for her. She grinned a little and took it from his hand. "Thank you." She popped it in her mouth and watched him fumble around with the pencil, eventually writing down a few sloppy but readable letters. "Eff-ryim? Eff-eff... Ephraim? Urgh, French names... I'll just call you Raimy... Anyways, uh." Aurelia rubbed the back of her neck, he was certainly impressing her a lot at this point... "I guess you can call me Beth... or Lusey, I guess. My friends back home would call me by either... Though, I guess it doesn't matter too much, right? Seeing as you have to write down everything... Anyways, I'm rambling."
There was a short silence before a voice echoed from outside her apartment. Just a single word. "Madame!?" "Wha-?" She stood up and walked to the window. A little ways down the street that led to the lower buildings, two figures stood. One of them was a young woman, probably around Aurelia's age, if not older. And holding her arm was a tall, thin, and obviously worn out somebody. She couldn't see their faces, but clearly something was going on. She stared out through the window at them, hoping that they'd either go away or she'd find out what was going on.

'Raimy? Oh it sounded nice~! '
He wanted to write a reply but seeing the girl getting distracted by a sound from outside made him place down the paper and pencil, following her to the window.
He peered over her head, curious as to what she was looking at.
Letting out a concerned chirp at the sight that met him, he latched his secondary hands on to the back of Lusey’s shirt, his primary ones clutching the loose end of his scarf.
Whatever was happening down below it did not seem all right.

"What sort of proposition? As you can clearly tell I'm busy with something..."
Her icy response did little to sway his determination. If anything it firmed his resolve, along with his grip, bringing her even closer to his body. 'Threateningly close,' she added.
"You claimed to be a doctor, correct?"
"That, good sir, depends." She sniffed, setting her jaw defiantly in place, glowering something fierce while wiggling her arm to free it.
"On what"
"On whether or not I feel I should even consider helping you. Especially after you have accosted me in such a manner while I am concerned with the well being of-"Vandall's other arm quickly shot, clasping upon her shoulder to cease her struggles. "They can wait."
"No, they will not!" Magalie went to say more, hissing instead when his claws bite through both his gloves and her shirt. His hold kept her immobile. "I insist." He sneered darkly.
"And I refuse!" She countered, putting her booted foot to good use. She slammed it into his chest, laughing triumphantly on impact.... only to moan in pain realizing to late she had used her injured foot do inflict the blow.
Vandall gritted his teeth but showed no other signs she had wounded him. If anything, that had felt like a small thud against his exoskeleton, which made him chuckle just barely. Being an insect had it's perks (as few as they were). The woman chewed down her pain for now, thrashing about harder now, opening her mouth to scream. Someone had to hear her. Surely someone would race to their windows and see her in distress.
But Vandall already had spun her around, pressing a hand to her mouth while his other arm held her arms pinned to her sides. He lowered his lips to her ear, whispering, "If you continue to act like an ill mannered she-devil, you'll force me to do something very ungentlemanly to subdue you. And trust me, you wont like it one, tiny bit. Understand?" With frantic eyes she searched for help, trying to rationalize what she should do. She trembled only slightly, going through scenarios, formulating plans, snapped out of her thoughts when he softly pressed for an answer. "Do you understand, mademoiselle?"

Eyes darting back and forth around the street she looked for any sort of person even though she was fully aware there was no one on the street previously. Taking frantic breaths from her nose she grimaced at having his oddly smelling claws over her mouth and instantly came to a solution.
Keeping up a innocent act she mumbled through the claws, knowing well aware that her words were unknown through the claws.
"What did you say?" he asked
Taking her chance she swiftly kneed his hard shielded gut and bit down on his disgusting claws. The creature flinched at the chomp at his hands and Mag had her chance. She shoved the creature hard which moved her more backwards rather than moving him at all.
"I said get your hands off of me!" she shouted at him as she was about to turn her heel and continue her earlier sprint down the street.
Unfortunately the stranger caught her leg by one long arm, making her trip onto the cold stoned floor. "This is ridiculous, why would I help you after your rude behavior?!" she yelled audibly and started straightening herself up with two arms about to get back up.
"Maybe if you listened, I could have explained it to you instead of resulting to this?!" he yelled back gripping her arm to pull her off the ground.
Being heaved off the floor and being held in the air in front of the creature's face was unnerving. Even so the resilient girl still kicked her feet around swatting at the unamused insect.

The thin one had picked the woman up... with four hands.
She stared in horror as the two continued their muffled argument. She straightened her back and puffed out her chest in a childlike fashion. Giant monster bug things don't scare me. She walked to the door, No! Not at all, I'm gonna go over there and I'm going to get to the bottom of this! She opened the door, which was followed closely by a sad chitter. She looked back and saw Ephraim right behind her, blinking at her as if he expected her to run off. "Stay... Here... Now." He chittered again, brows furrowing a little. She smiled in response, patting his big chest in assurance. "I'll be back, I'm just going to go over to those two strangers and try to stop the thin one from causing a scene." She grabbed her coat from the rack next to the door and ran out into the streets. She was pretty thankful right about now that not too many people lived this far up on the hill, else there'd by a very large problem at hand.
Wait, why was she even doing this again? She paused midstep to ponder this. The strangers were right down the street, less than a block away, and she only now started to think about what the hell she was doing. The stranger was not human, and was arguing with a woman whom he currently had hoisted in the air, the latter of which was thrashing her legs about like a fish. They were arguing, she was standing there about to rush in like a typical american and try to help... But then again, who else was going to? "HEY!" She shouted, running up towards the large but obnoxiously thin four armed bug (for she saw his face under the light). "Put her down!!!"
She wasn't a very intimidating person, but she knew full well that she knew that if things got bad, that she had a pair of perfectly good legs and could beeline right back to her apartment. Well, if it came down to that, anyways...

“Chirr?”
He stared at the door and then back to the window, watching as Lusey made her way to the odd pair below.
Right stay.
Nu-huh., No way.
He was not about to let his new friend go alone in to an unknown situation.
Opening the window he wiggled his large form out of the opening and crawled on to the wall, his limbs sticking to the surface as he moved to follow his new friend from walls of the houses he jumped to.
He moved swiftly, silently and carefully, using the shadows to hide himself from the eyes of whoever was on the streets, as he shadowed his friend.
Hearing her shout made him buzz in anxiety, yelling in his mind was never a good thing. He was tempted to jump down and stand by her side but he stopped himself for the moment, she might not even need his help after all…
..However, if push came to shove, he would reveal himself, until then he would be the fly on a wall that saw and heard all.
