---------------------------------------------- Little Adeline toddled along as her mother lead her along the streets of Paris to go visit her Aunt Regine. It was the first time she had ever been to Paris and it was almost overwhelming with different sounds everywhere, smells of both sewage and baked goods, the sense of people walking everywhere busily up and down the streets, and the hard bricks of the cobbled streets that were starting to hurt her feet. "Mama, why is the ground so hard?" she asked, while adjusting her shoes and skipping about to keep up with her mother's pace. "Its because its made of brick, Adeline." her mother replied in a sweet, gentle voice, "They do it so the streets would be cleaner and make a smoother surface for people to walk on." "Then how come my feet hurt when I walk on it, Mama?" she asked, still walking despite her sore feet. "Well you're more use to walking on the dirt roads back home dear, so its no surprise you'd have trouble walking on paved roads. Do you want me to carry you?" "No thanks;" Adeline replied, "I'll keep walking till we get to Auntie's place."

Sio had never been this excited in her whole life! Running from the front bow to the back, she couldn't keep still!
All those years, stupid stupid years! Behave this, and proper that! Those stupid rules, silly dresses and pinchy shoes!
Her uncle, Oghan, he and his wife had invited her on their boat for a trip, given her beautiful clothes to wear, and best off all.
No more Grandmother!
Sick, she was absolutely sick of her Grandmother patronizing and chasten her, telling her to sit straighter, talk softer, ''stop behaving like a street urchin like your father was"
No more of that, now she wore a soft cotton red tunic with slash over her baggy trousers, a paisley pattern headscarf to keep her bushy hair from flying into her mouth, and the most adorable curly toed sandals.
Her cousins had cooed and awed at her transformation; complimenting her on the color of her eyes and the dark hues in her hair, so different from their coppery red locks which she envied them.
"Jojo! Keep close too the tent, we're docking!" Her uncle shouted from the deck, signaling the other six boats behind them to follow.
A canopy of music, their music, her music, it floated up from the tents to announce their presence to the town ahead, a glorious symphony of violins, guitars and drums. 'Jojo', her name was Siofra, but here, she was either Sio or Jojo, she wouldn't care what she was called.
As long as she could stay here, she wouldn't care a hundred pounds worth of gold.
Hanging onto the railing, leaning her ten year old body forward to see, she could spot the cobble-streets already.
Paris, oh how exciting!

"We're here, Adeline." Margaux said to her daughter as they approached a boutique with a sign above that says "Le Paon Mode.
"Now hold my hand until we get inside."
Adeline did as her mother told her and was lead inside.
The boutique was decorated with all kinds of expensive fashion, such as dresses and jewelry. Wth the ringing of the doorbell, an eccentrically dressed woman came in.
"MARGAUX, ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!" the woman said running up to Adeline's mother and hugged her.
"Its good to see you too, Regine." Margaux replied, hugging her elder sister back.
Regine looked down and kneeled to Adeline.
"Mon dieux, Adeline, you were only a tiny baby last time I saw you and now you've grown so much."
Adeline hid behind her mother's skirt shyly, not knowing what to make of this lady who seems to share the same blood as her and her mother.
