Thought this section of the forum was looking a little lonely, so what the hey, here's a thread! I was just wondering, what're eveyone's favourite books/book series? Mine are (in no particular order): Metro 2033 (Dmitry Gluhovsky) Discworld Series (Terry Pratchett) The Chronicles Of Narnia (C. S. Lewis) The Foretelling (Alice Hoffman) The Cat Who Went To Heaven (Elizabeth Coatsworth) How To Train Your Dragon Series (Cressida Cowell) Skulduggery Pleasant Series (Derek Landy) The Last Dragon Chronicles (Chris D'lacey) The Pirates! Series (Gideon Defore) BioShock: Rapture (John Shirley) (please don't judge me for this one.... ) ;D

I don't really read as much as I'm sure many of you people do, but we had to read Ender's Game and The Outsiders last year at school.
Needless to say, I was one of the only people who actually read the entire books. I really liked Ender's Game!

I have a ton of books I like, but I'm gonna just name a few:
The Dream Merchant by Isabel Hoving The Calder Game by Blue Balliett The Anybodies by N.E. Bode (lol best pseudonym ever) So You Want to Be a Wizard by Diane Duane The Wind Singer by William Nicholson Showdown by Ted DekKer The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins
I also like more popular series like The Inheritance Cycle (Christopher Paolini) and A Series of Unfortunate Events (Lemony Snicket), but most people on here have probably already read them. If you haven't heard of the seven I've mentioned above, I definatly recommend them. Especially "The Dream Merchant" (it's my favorite).

Dear Cerberus, let me love you forever because Skulduggery Pleasant is one of my all-time favorite series. The new one came out at the beginning of the month, and although I've not yet had time to read it, I'm sssoooo excited to.
My favorite book would probably have to be Gene Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun. One of the most intelligent and imaginative books I've ever read. The setting, and the writing itself, and the ideas expressed... it's hard to even describe it. It's more science fantasy than science fiction, but fans of either genre absolutely ought to read it.

Just some random ones I can think of off the top of my head: -Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wayne -Mythology by Edith Hamilton -Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordian -Spiderwick chronicles by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black -Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux -The Book Thief by Markus Zusak -Make Room Make Room by Harry Harrison ( Also known as Soylent Green ) -Really anything by Roald Dahl, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Witches ect. -Same goes for Neil Gaiman, Graveyard Book, Interworld, Neverwhere, Coraline, Sandman ect. -And Alan Moore, mainly Swamp Thing, Watchmen, V for Vendetta ect.
For the most part my tastes are pretty varied but one thing I always really need is a good story teller, I have a hard time reading books that are just stating whats going on rather than painting an image for me.
And if manga counts I would say Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Liar's Game, Gankutsuou ect.

I don't read a whole lot, but at the moment my favorite books are Gideon Defoe's Pirates! Adventure series. I also like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series books.

I've only ever read the first HHG book, but I loved it. XD I don't think our library has the others, unfortunately. And would this Pirates! series have anything to do with the recent Aardman movie? If so, I may have to look into it cause the movie was pretty funny. Got Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea & Journey to the Center of the Earth today. Can't wait to get started on those. ^^

Adventure series (5 books as of now, I believe he's still writing more?) is the source material for Pirates! Band of Misfits. I HIGHLY recommend reading his books if you loved the movie, the books are TEN times funnier and really add depth to the overall reading and movie experience. ^^

Just the movie. My library didn't have them either so I bought the books from Amazon and my local used book store. They're usually around $5-10 each.
