Mmm, welllll, so I guess I've been thinking of making a clay figure of Francoeur. I sorta already made a head, but am a little iffy on if I can make the body and the rest. I'll try, of course, but no promises that it'll look okay/ not fall apart after baking! No eyes or mouth or anything. I normally do those last. . Tried to make it as nice as possible, will probably change it in small ways later.

Usually helps with things like these, I have personal experiance with clay, and it's no good trying to make a large body with solid clay, it'll slump worse than a Gerbera on decafé.

Oh yes, sounds like a good idea. (I'll probably re-do the head later too)
Clay's real fun, but I'm no expert nor have I been working with it too long! I just need wire, I don't have any good wire at home. What kinda wire do you suppose I'd need?

Ooo this looks like fun! I hope you make the whole thing. Yeah, I highly suggest you stay away from making him out of solid clay. I've worked with clay for a few years now and solid pieces ... well, they either blow sky high when baking or you have so many holes in them it's not worth making them smooth in the first place. If I was in your position, I'd make his body as hollow triangle first. To give him more support I think you'd be good to make his legs solid (take a pin and make some holes though! You don't want anything blowing up on you) I hope this all works out for you! ;D Give us some pictures of you progress ok?

Well, I've made a bunny (an ear fell off ) a seagoat (the tail AND an ear fell off) and a dove (nothing fell off!) out of the same clay. They're okay, 'cept the falling apart. So I'm less worried about it blowing up and not being smooth, as I am keeping the figure (while it's still moldable) standing/sitting up, and all in once piece! I'm thinking I'll have him sitting down, so as none of his limbs end up popping off for whatever reason. Hey, but what do I know about clay- I'm sure you guys know much more than I! So I'm happy to take which ever advice seems best. Thanks for the support. :u
